The Nodders ~ Why are rhyming books important?

"Experts in literacy and child development have discovered that if children know eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they're four years old, they're usually among the best readers by the time they're eight." - Mem Fox, Reading Magic.

The Nodders book is a rhyming book. My cute three year old neighbor is a wonderful example of what happens when children hear a rhyming pattern. She was one of my tiny reviewers of the book. She loved the rhymes so much that she memorized part of the book! You can see the video with her holding a Hallmark card as if she is reading The Nodders book!
